Awesome, well worth the money ! May 3, 2010 Sherry A. Mccormick 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got a great deal on this and I am so happy I purchased it! I have owned a Hoover Wind Tunnel(a consumers report best buy) and a Kirby in the past. This far exceeds both of them. I have 5 cats and this thing sucks the hair right out of the carpet and it makes your carpet look brand new. The vacuum is heavy if you are carrying it from place to place, but once you turn it on it is very easy to push, unless you are a young child or weigh less then like 50 lbs. you should be able to handle it. With my old vacuum my 3 year old carpet looked old and worn down, just one day of running the animal over it , it has come back to life.
Terrible terrible vacuum cleaner and here's why May 3, 2010 Soon to be (California) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
Very disappointed with Dyson animal vacuum - superficially it does a phenomenal job, but when you dig deeper it really doesn't. My biggest problem with this vacuum is the bagless is messy, messy, messy. It is impossible to get all dust/dirt out of the canister efficiently. Upon further investigation the lip underneath where the roller is was filled to the brim with dirt/dust that had been fast suctioned against the plastic before making it into the pipe to the canister. A poor design. Threads were also completely tangled over the roller - again suction so strong it doesn't pull everything into the canister but rather allows it to clog up upon initial contact all around and inside where the roller is situated. What was removed from there was disgusting. Overall a shocking dusty mess that meant more cleaning. I do not recommend Dyson at all and only gave it two stars for initial excitement at the machine. The hose is also incredibly cumbersome and it has a long rigid part to it that is very hard to use if you are shorter - I am 5' 2". It has been impossible to use the hose for detail cleaning. The outer lip on the Dyson is also very high and hard to vacuum against baseboards and kitchen cupboards.
I have instead invested in a hoover platinum bagged vacuum. Examining the underneath does not have the lip that Dyson has, and the bag seals everything inside with no dust/dirt escaping, seals neatly and you just throw it away. It is also very light and low profile so cleaning underneath things is a breeze. The detail use canister is so easy as well.
Really - do not waste your money. When it comes to a great vacuum, less is more and bagged is best.
Worth every penny. April 28, 2010 Christine Bet (AL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My husband and I initially were interested in the Dyson ball, but when we laid eyes on this monster and it's reported ablities, we were excited to try it out. We have two boxers at home and a rug that they play on daily. This vacuum pulled out more hair and dirt than my old vacuum had in it's life time after just one use. Sure, the price seems very high for this type of household tool, but I'll bet it's the last time you buy. The dyson website registration makes reading about the warranty and using it a breeze.
Worked 5 weeks and died April 23, 2010 Matt Doering (Midwest) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
My wife just had to have the dyson dc28. It really sucked for 5 weeks and not it sucks because it is in the vaccuum repair shop 25 minutes away as i await the customer disservice department at dyson to send a work order. They couldnt even tell me if repairs on my month old machine will be covered by warranty. RETHINK your purchase and go to your local vaccuum shop and ask a lot of questions. This has been a horrible experience on an expensive machine.
Dyson 28 April 21, 2010 Pepperjack23 (Lees Summit, MO) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
We purchased this vacuum because of a couple friends had earlier models that they loved. We went with the 28Pet because we have a dog. I think we got a lemon. We had problems of the handle releasing back to the vacuum position. It would work sometimes and lock up other times. We took it to Marbeck for service after talking to Dyson. (That is where they sent us) The parts were estimated to take 4 weeks. They told us that the DC28 has many problems. Too many plastic pieces. They also wanted to sell us their Simplicity model for 799. Ouch! We choked on the Dyson price.
