Wow!!!!! March 7, 2010 Steve We were in the market for a new vacuum cleaner. After a brief amount of research, we decided to try a Dyson and bought the DC28 using a 20% off coupon. The rugs and carpets had just been vacuumed using the house central vac with its powerhead carpet attachment, and we thought they were clean. Enter the DC28 Animal. The amount of additional dust and pet fur picked up by the Dyson was simply remarkable. Turns out the carpets and rugs weren't clean at all. Everything positive you've read about their cleaning ability is true. Moreover, I found the unit to be extremely manueverable and easy to work with. And it was significantly lighter than the old Hoover upright it replaced. Wow, finally a truly outstanding vacuum cleaner.
Terrible service February 22, 2010 Julia E. C. Gilbreath (Gaithersburg, Maryland) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this DC28 from either Dyson directly or from Amazon. I did not keep the purchase paperwork assuming that the serial number is all that I needed to get a repair. Now three months later the self propel feature is broken. I called Dyson and they said if I could not prove where I purchased the vacuum from they would not honor their 5 year warranty. I would not recomend that anyone puchase this machine. First of all it should not be breaking after only a short time of use. Second they should know by the serial number whether or not to honor the warranty. Third, the person on the phone informed me that she would of kept track of such an important purchase thus indicating that I am mentally deficient.
A great vaccume to have. February 22, 2010 K. Fort (Washington) I've had my dyson for about 4-5 months. It does a great job, considering we own two large dogs and a cat. I love how powerful it is. My only complaint was that the hose attachment didn't come out one day, and for awhile I had to muscle out the hose edition any time I wanted to use the little accessories that came with it. The hose wasn't designed very well, but after fixing it a little bit it works great again.
Pro: Cleans really well, easy to use, very light weight
Cons: designed slightly on the cheap side, but for the price, it's worth it.
My cleaning lady is off for the week, so I had to try this out! February 21, 2010 Safa Maiwand, DDS (San Francisco, CA) This is my second Dyson, the first one was lost in a custody dispute - he got the Animal and I got the dog! I think I came out on top. My second Dyson purchase was a no brainer, I loved the Animal on the ball but I was not crazy about the color. So I found a special edition Orange DC28 and bought it. My cleaning lady always tells me it's a great vacuum and since she's off this week, I found out for myself that it is indeed a marvelous creation. I don't track a lot around in my house but whatever does come inside gets picked up quickly and efficiently with this beast. The price may be prohibitive but I have a habit of buying the best and/or the most expensive items I can find... hence the Animal...
Too high expectations February 11, 2010 Jess Titlow 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
After using a $100 vacuum for years I was so excited to get a Dyson. However, it isn't as great as I expected.
PROS: Suction is great on carpeted floors. It's easy to clean and empty canister is of a huge value for anyone that has had to deal with cleaning bagless vacuums.
CONS: Great job at picking up dust and hair but that is about it. It won't even suck up pine needles or small drywall particles. My old vacuum used to easily suck items such as this up. It also is terrible at vacuuming next to walls. I usually have to use the attachments to vacuum next to all walls.
If you're going to buy a Dyson definitely buy one of the lower priced models. This one isn't worth the $600 price tag.
