Product Description Eureka Hand-Held Vacuum Cleaner - Eureka 71B
Amazon.com Review Hand-held but very powerful, this Eureka model eliminates the hassle of lugging around a full-size vacuum for cleaning car upholstery, sofas, and carpeted stairs. A long 20-foot cord (which wraps for storage) provides good reach, as does the deluxe hose that stretches to three times its length. With the crevice tool on the end of the hose, this vacuum reaches into all kinds of tight places. And, with two motors, one to power the revolving brush and one for suction, the 5.5 amp vacuum cleans deeply. One of Eureka's innovations is the Riser Visor, a clear plastic cover that stays down for cleaning horizontal surfaces and flips up so the revolving brush can reach the vertical carpet on stair risers. There's no bag to change, just a filter and clear plastic dust cup to shake out when necessary. --Ann Bieri

Everything I expected! March 8, 2010 novice financial prof (Provo, UT USA) I use this vacuum for my stairs and for vacuuming my car. It's got GREAT suction and does everything I hoped for! I had done my research prior to buying this and concluded that this is the best hand-held vac out there and I am happy to report that it really is everything I expected. Highly recommended!
powerful March 7, 2010 Quilter (Houston, TX USA) This is the most powerful small vacuum I've ever used. It does pick up the cat hair which is why I purchased it. Cleaning the container is pretty easy. It is bulky, but very useful. I also prefer the corded type, because the cordless run out of power when you need it most and seem to wear out quickly.
tricky to keep clean, but does the job March 5, 2010 A. Jahnke I have had this vacuum for about three years now. I ordered it to use in my dorm rooms and because I needed something that wouldn't take up a lot of space. This vacuum works really well, especially in regards to all the sand brought in during the winter months. However, it only works well when it is "clean." If the dust collector is 1/4 to 1/2 full, it does not suck up all that it should. It needs to be empty in order for it to work. Also, the twirling brushes collect longer hair, which both my roommate and I have, so I have to pull it out of the bristles often, otherwise it will not vacuum well. If you don't mind emptying the vacuum and pulling threads and hairs out of the bristles, it really does work well and is very durable.

The item is exactly as described. It is just terrific to clean stairs, tight spots around the home and perfect for the car.
Recommend it highly.
Sucked my Oriental Rug right clean March 2, 2010 R. Banerjee (Boston,ma) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This little demon just arrived today, and already it has sucked three full cups of dirt out of my oriental rug.
I have a large Oriental (actually i lugged it back from India) rug, hand made of cotton and really gorgeous. I ordinarily send it to a professional cleaner every three years or so. This little Eureka brought it back to its original glory. It sucked out three canisters of dirt just from the rug. The old gray color has turned back to a sparkling white. I rinsed the filter in the sink, and it released another cup of fine sand and dust. The filter is able to trap all of that, and the vacuum is powerful enough to suck through such a fine filter.
This vacuum is POWERFUL. The brush spins very fast, has its own motor, and can pull up hairs, fuzz, and LOTS of dirt. I'm not a big vacuumer, I bought this thing because I dislike spending $200 for a professional rug cleaning that has inconsistent results. An awesome do-it-yourself cleaning tool for oriental rugs.
