This is the third steam cleaner I've owned (over a several year period) and the best one to date. I bought this after buying my house and was amazed to see how much dirt that it pulled up from what appeared to be clean carpeting. I especially like the automatic rinse feature and the larger waste & fresh water tubs. I can clean the carpets faster because I spend less time than before emptying the waste tub and refilling the water and cleaner tubs.
I like it so much that I even bought one for my mother.

I ordered this on Tuesday with free super saver shipping and received it Friday night. It was very easy to assemble. I had an Oreck prior to this machine. The Oreck was very light weight compared to the Hoover. Other than that, I love this machine. I was a cleaning machine during the weekend. I even used the spin brush attachment to clean my stairs. Having two seperate tanks for clean water and dirty water makes it easy to clean and empty/fill. For the price, I feel like I got a deal.

This Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner is much better than the others I've had. I have a habit of buying and using these things for several years and then passing them on to family members who need to borrow them. This is my third and, by far, the best. The only down side is that it is also heavier than the others, but that was not a problem in using it.
I would recommend this cleaner to anyone in the market for such a machine.

I spent hours pouring over Amazon reviews and talking to friends before I purchased this product. It only had four reviews, so I was a bit nervous until the product arrived and I tried it out.
First - A word on the impressive speed in shipping. I needed the product as quickly as possible because my previous machine died while I was cleaning up a disgusting mess caused by two sick dogs vomiting and having diarrhea in my living room - all over my living room. Despite the urgency, I still chose the free super saving shipping. I ordered around 8:30 pm on Thursday and found the box delivered on my front porch before 8:30 am on Saturday.
Second - Putting the the steam vac together. I am not handy with my hands, yet even I was able to put this machine together in less than 10 minutes. You need to slide the handle into place and put in two screws to secure it. Then you can either mount the tool caddy onto the machine (it slides into place) or slide it onto a hanger and store it in a closet.
Third - Using it. You start by filling up the clean water and soap containers. After that you choose the setting you want to use. (power scrub, gentle scrub, spill pick up). Next you choose between wash - auto rinse or just rinse. Then you turn on the machine and go. I used auto rinse. The soapy water came out when I pushed forward and the rinse water came out when I pulled back. Then I released the trigger and just sucked water for a couple of swipes before moving onto the next spot. The machine moved easily and the rotating brushes got out all the disgusting material deposited in my carpet. The carpet was clean, soft, and dry in less than two hours.
A comparison - My previous carpet cleaner was a Bissell ProHeat with six rows and a separate container for the cleaning solution. I purchased it used 4 years ago and liked it well enough until it died. I liked the super heated water in the Bissell, but that is the only thing about it I liked better than the Hoover. The Bissell is harder to move. It feels heavier, but it might just be more awkward. The Bissell is harder to cleanup when you are done. The clean water is stored in a bladder inside the canister that hold the dirty water after it is sucked up. It's hard to rinse the dirty water and lint out of it. (The hoover has two separate containers that are easy to rinse.) The Hoover also sucks up most of the water it releases. My carpets were dry in less than two hours after using the Hoover, but it could take 24 hours with the Bissell. The Hoover also did a better job removing stains, and because it sucked up the yucky dirty water so well, my carpets smelled much better when I was done. Remember that I was cleaning my dogs' body fluids from the carpet, so this was important to me.
Bottom line: This is a great and affordable carpet cleaner. The spin brushes and auto rinse are an excellent combination that make it easy to get clean carpets with minimal effort.

I have to say that I'm really very please with this carpet cleaner. I didn't think that a home cleaner could make the carpets look this good. I like the fact that it has separate tanks for the clean and dirty water and that you can do rinse-only passes to be sure that the detergent is removed. It gets the carpet really clean and removes all traces of pet accidents. It also extracts the water really well, so that the carpet is dry and ready to walk on in a few hours. I don't know how I've managed with 3 boys and 3 dogs without it.
I will admit that the first cleaner I got was defective. It just would not turn on. After talking to Hoover support, I returned the cleaner to Amazon. I was really happy I had ordered from Amazon, because they sent UPS to the house to pick up the defective cleaner and had a new one to me within a few days. Great service.
