Product Description Bissell, Steam Mop, Hard Floor Cleaner, 100% Chemical Free Cleaning, Safe & Effective, Ready To Use With Water Only, Environmentally Friendly, 360 Degree Swivel Head, Washable Microfiber Mop Pads, Quick Release Cord Wrap, Slim, Lightweight Design.
Amazon.com Review Ideal for the chemically sensitive or those with small children, the Bissell Steam Mop deep-cleans hard-surface floors using the power of pure water alone. No harsh (or expensive) cleaners means no fumes or residues to irritate lungs or muddy delicate finishes, while the use of hot steam rather than buckets of water leaves floors dry in just seconds. Heated and ready to use in 30 seconds, the remarkably quiet mechanism works something like an iron: steam is dispensed on demand, rather than continuously, by pressing the trigger while passing the mop over the floor. Hot steam easily removes hardened and sticky gunk, especially if the mop sits over the mess for a few seconds. (Leave it in place 15 seconds to actually sanitize the cleaning surface.) The machine steams for approximately 15 minutes before the tank needs to be refilled, but there's no lag once you refill it. The Steam Mop's low-profile 360-degree swiveling head accesses hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, like under kitchen cabinets, while its compact profile stores easily in small spaces. Other thoughtful design touches include a quick-release cord wrap and easy-carry handle, as well as a built-in water filter to protect from the minerals and impurities in hard water. (An indicator lets users know when the filter need to be replaced.) Durable, reusable microfiber pads are safe on all sealed hard surfaces and clean up nicely in the washing machine, making them more environmentally friendly than disposable options. Measuring 6 by 11 by 45-1/2 inches, the Bissell Steam Mop weighs less than 7 pounds and is covered by a one-year limited warranty.--Mary Park

We are happy with this product. January 3, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading many, many reviews for several of the steam mop's here on Amazon, we decided to give the Bissel a try. So far, we are very pleased with its performance. My husband actually enjoys using it (that should get 4 stars from me!!) and says that he thinks it is MUCH better than mopping with any of the mops or hard floor cleaners that we have tried. The water goes a long way, considering we have over 2000 sq feet of just tile, which can be a nightmare to mop!! The only part that we have had to get used to is not using any cleaning products. My husband still sprays natural cleaning products on the floor prior to steaming, just to feel sure that the floor is "clean". Overall, pleased with our purchase.
Will not go without this amazing mop! January 2, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a lot of tile in my home. And, it's a lovely very light color with little holes in it that love to collect dirt. Anyhow, I am not an amazing cleaner. Mopping just has not worked for me. My floors are still dirty after I mop and I have to really scrub on my hands and knees to get that dirt out.
Then comes my miraculous steam mop. For me, who doesn't want to mop her floor three time a day, this has been a lifesaver. I have 3 children at home, including an 8 month old crawling machine, and the steam mop has made my life so much easier.
I only mop about every other day or so and my floors look BEAUTIFUL afterwards. And, they feel beautiful, very smooth, not sticky at all. Also, my little crawler does not get his knees all dirty.
The left over water is no problem. I just follow the steam mop around with a towel, using my feet to wipe up the extra water and dirt. I think this helps to get my floors even cleaner and there's no bending required. I gave the mop only 4 starts because, yes, my first mop did stop working after only a couple months. And it took about a month to get it into a mop fixing shop, but Bissel did send another replacement eventually and that one has been going strong for about 6 months now. To be fair, I use filtered water, not distilled, though the instructions said tap water was fine to use and my filter had not changed color yet. Maybe, it would not have broken down if I had used distilled.
Anyhow, love this product! If it stopped working again today I would just shell out the $80 and buy another.
Thank goodness for reviews January 2, 2009 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
So, I've been looking around for the best steam cleaner to purchase. I've been reading reviews and have decided to stick to my regular old sponge mop. I have discovered that if you spray your kitchen floor with Clorox Clean Up and use hot water on the mop, it makes the floor so white and clean.
Great product! January 2, 2009 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received this product as a Christmas gift. I love it. Easy to use. Simply fill the container with distilled (or tap) water, plug it in, and away you go! I have very dark wood floors and it does an amazing job of cleaning the floors of any stuck-on debris, dried-up liquid spots, and other grime that was lodged in-between the slats of wood. Clean up is a snap. Take off the water container and the mopping pad, empty the container and toss the mopping pad in the washer!
Steam iron on a stck? January 2, 2009 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
I came here thinking this was what I wanted until I read the reviews. These taught me that this is for obsessive compulsive floor cleaning people like my ex-fiancé who used to scrub the kitchen floor on her hands & knees.
My situation is 800 square feet of vinyl flooring on in an old farmhouse on a ranch. For years I've suffered trying to mop it with one of those $10 sponge mops from the grocery store. (No more ex-fiancé on her hands & knees). What a slow, torture it is trying to mop with a sponge on a broom handle. SLOW! TERRIBLE TOOL!
Reading many of these reviews made me realize this is NOT A MOP. It is a steam iron on a stick for those who already have immaculate floors but who (rolls his eyes) need to sanitize (sterilize) the floor after dropping a piece of chicken. (shakes his head). Funny, I don't ever remember dropping raw chicken on my floor...
Anyway, thank you for all the reviews. It became clear what I needed so I drove to Lowes and paid about $80 for a mop with one of those industrial wringer pails. WOW! Thank God for Amazon reviews! For the first time since I moved here my 800 square feet of vinyl floors are bright & clean.
Using a brand new, industrial type mop with wringer pail was like I had been trying to cut firewood for 4 years with a hacksaw. Then someone handed me a brand new high quality chain saw. Like the light bulb suddenly lighting up over my head.
Using the right tool for the right job, as the saying goes, allowed me to super clean the entire house in record time without being bored, tired, or frustrated. Got a bad spot (gopher blood from where the cats ate one or more) and that big cotton head on the long hardwood handle is the substitute for hands & knees. I mean that. I scrubbed all the gopher blood and hardened guts from the floor next to the toilet without bending down.
I got the right tool for the job thanks to these Amazon reviews. No steam iron on a stick to sterilize a spot where butter fingers dropped raw chicken. This is not a joke--this is a serious review about a real life event. Thank you.
