Product Description Ditch the dustpan and broom for one convenient and rechargeable power-operated vac. Featuring 60 percent more suction power than the original broom vac, this lightweight invention sweeps and vacuums hard floor surfaces in one easy swoop. A foot activated on/off switch for hassle-free operation. Choose from a variety of colors that match any decor. Weighs less than 4 pounds. One-year warranty.
Amazon.com Review An inexpensive alternative to brooms, dustpans, and bending over to get at the last of the dirt pile, the cordless, bagless, yet surprisingly effective Dirt Devil Broom Vacuum is well suited to heavy-duty sweeping and vacuuming on hard-surface floors of all types. Where it really shines, though, is for quick touch-ups-the dog-hair tumbleweeds and stray Cheerios of everyday life. 60% more powerful than the Broom Vacuum's last incarnation, its 9.6 volt motor has plenty of juice for sucking up debris from tile, laminate, hardwoods, and linoleum. Users with bad backs will appreciate the foot-activated on/off switch, and at just 3-1/2 pounds, without cumbersome power cords to trip over, the unit maneuvers with admirable ease. It's easy to see when the transparent dirt cup is full, and the canister snaps off easily for emptying. Brushed-edge cleaning extends the unit's reach, and the 10-inch-wide nozzle feels more like a broom than a skinny stick vacuum. To recharge, simply plug into the included adaptor when storing. The Dirt Devil Broom Vacuum is not intended for wet spills or carpeted surfaces, but for dry messes, crumbs, and dust, it's a solid value and so easy to use that you just might find yourself sweeping the kitchen floor more often. The unit measures a compact 21 by 13 by 1-1/2 inches and is covered by a one-year warranty. < I>--Mary Park

Needs redesign December 21, 2008 We have hardwood floors and dogs, so there's always hairballs in the corners. I thought this would be a great daily quick sweep, but the design makes the hair clog very quickly. If there was a tad more room between the filter & the tunnel where the dirt is sucked up, the hair wouldn't accumulate so quickly. Seems like this would have easily been noticed in the design phase. Otherwise I really like this product!
Not good for pet hair!! December 17, 2008 The dirt devil is fine for sweeping up dirt/sand/crumbs, but it is terrible for pet hair. Any hairball keeps the rubber diaphragm flap thing open or clogs the opening or tube to the dirt holder area. I have to keep emptying the chamber (at least a dozen times)to try to complete sweeping a 1400 sq ft area. I've given up & will give this away to someone who doesn't have pets.
Beats the old broom and dust pan by a mile December 14, 2008 I buy a lot of stuff at Amazon online because I trust them. I ordered this item several weeks ago and it was delivered promptly. Amazon does that very well -- and it qualified for free shipping, I am a 70 year old man and have two cats that leave an abundance of scattered dry food, cat hair and litter on hard serface floors. The Dirt Devil broom vac does a good job on all these items. I haven't had a chance to use it in other situations but I am confident that it will work well. It takes a little practice to get it to work as advertised and you also have to get used to it being heavier than a regular broom. That isn't hard to do. The overall engineering of this product is exceptional and is easy to use , clean and empty. I will buy another one if I ever wear this one out.
Does it work on cat litter? December 11, 2008 I was thinking about purchasing this vacuum after seeing it for a low cost of $25.00 at Walmart. Our cats have their own little kitty closet with their cat box in it but it gets filthy and they drag the cat litter everywhere on the hardwoods. I was looking for something easy to clean up the cat litter. Does anybody know if it works well with picking up litter?
Great for Everyday Sweeping December 8, 2008 We have hardwood and tile floors, so I was searching for a product to replace a standard broom and dustpan, and that wouldn't push dirt outward or damage hardwood as the brush bar on our upright vacuum does. The pros of this broom vacuum: lightweight, easy to use, picks up most light dirt such as pet hair and dust, lets you sweep dirt first and then vacuum if you prefer, and takes up no more space than a regular broom. Cons: must be held perpendicular and still to pick up heavier dirt and it does not pick up all types of dirt. I recommend it for hard surfaces especially if you sweep your floors regularly.
