Product Description The multiple brush system only from Hoover provides outstanding cleaning performance due to the spinning action of the 5 self-adjusting brushes.
Amazon.com This powerful home steam vacuum saves you the expense and hassle of having to rent a steam cleaner and keeps rugs, upholstery, and bare floors (other than hardwoods) looking like new. The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. For more stubborn stains or for high-traffic areas, this SteamVac also has a Clean Surge feature, which sends an extra blast of cleaning solution into the stain by simply pressing a button on the handle. When cleaning is complete, release the trigger and the SteamVac forces hot air into the cleaning path so you can do a few dry strokes over the stain. This deep cleaner has two separate water tanks to keep clean water apart from dirty water. The top tank holds the detergent and 1 gallon of hot water and automatically mixes the two so you don't need to get your hands wet. The lower tank holds the dirty solution picked up from the carpet and unlatches to easily pour out into a sink without spilling. For cleaning stairs or upholstery, this deep cleaner has a long 8-foot hose and a special stair/upholstery nozzle that scrubs out spots. Other features of this deep cleaner include a brush indicator, which informs you that the brushes are spinning; an on/off foot pedal; a handle release pedal; and a 27-inch wraparound cord. The Hoover SteamVac is covered by a full one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

What a Lifesaver! January 5, 2009 With 2 toddlers and a new puppy, this is a must for any mom or big family. This thing is easy to use and cleans like a dream! I have older carpet that had kid spit up, dog hair, etc. and after only a half hr of cleaning, it looks like new! The Clean Surge is great for high traffic areas--the dirt was ground in and it cleaned it up no problem. I cleaned the carpet right before bedtime and it was dry in the morning, even on the Clean Surge wettest parts of the carpet. The convenience of having this is worth the $150. I don't have to worry about unexpected messes--LET EM PLAY!!
Lives up to my expectations January 3, 2009 I recently ordered this unit to help me in removing urine stains left by a 90lb male greyhound! For the urine stains, I had to pretreat them, and go over them several times...and they are just about gone. Let's just say if someone other than myself walked through the rooms where the spots are, they probably would not see them. To me, they'll always be there! For general cleaning, I'd give this cleaner 6 stars! Putting it together was easy! Just to try it out I cleaned half of an unused bedroom, and the bedroom of my 4 year old. We've been in our house 4.5 years, and these 2 rooms are the LEAST used in the entire house. I say this because the dirty water tank emptied nearly BLACK!! Knowing the allergies I have, as well as my frequency of getting sinus infections, I can't help but think I'll be breathing much easier as I get more of the house done! If you have the room to store it, I highly recommend it. I've had the pros come in, and I've rented Rug Doctors from the grocery store...This unit is worth it...ESPECIALLY at the Amazon price!!!
worst steamvac ever...and Hoover customer service sucks January 3, 2009 I've had a steam cleaner before - a Bissell that worked for years. It finally broke and to replace it, I thought I'd try this.
I followed all the recommendations here about making sure the lids and hoses were tight. I pressed the Clean Surge button. The water container leaked AND there was no suction.
I assembled and reassembled five times to make sure. Nothing. I tried to hook up the hand cleaner to see if it would work. Nothing. I called Hoover. Guy said he didn't have a manual in front of him and to take it to the store. He was so impatient to get me off the phone. Called the store and the local branch is no longer open. The next closest place would charge me $15-20 just to look at it. Why I am out this money and not Hoover?
Worst Amazon experience ever. I've learned to buy heavy household stuff from a brick-and-mortar store were they can at least replace it without shipping.
Ugh.
Cleaning machine January 3, 2009 After one has used the "steam vac" for a few cleanings, the dirt and fibers get caught up under the the suction plate. I tried every screw I could find and this plate will not come off. Therefore, it not only looks nasty, but the suction is blocked. I will never by a hoover again.
Red Dirt of Kauai .. BE GONE! January 1, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Why buy another carpet cleaner when the other one is not even one year old? Because of the RED dirt that the other unit couldn't take out!
This was a gamble in my part and on a limited income (with this economy) I was really afraid to spend more money on a carpet cleaner. I had a choice: Rent a carpet cleaner for about $40 bucks for ONE TIME use or buy a heavier duty carpet cleaner.
Well with the RED dirt all over this island (which blows all over the place on windy days), it is just a matter of time when the carpets will need cleaning again. I figure these carpets have to be cleaned every three months and that's the justification for the purchase.
Fortunately (knock on wood or kiss the carpet now that it's clean), this worked like a charm. 99.9% of the red dirt is gone and the carpets looks almost new again.
I don't have to add anymore to all the good things that's been said about this cleaner, so I'll just say that it does the job and does it well!
